The annual Thomas E. Whitesides, M.D., Resident Research Competition helps to promote and encourage resident research and resident participation in the Georgia Orthopaedic Society. The competition honors Dr. Thomas E. Whitesides, Jr., who is a past president of the GOS and a champion of resident education. Among his many professional accomplishments, Dr. Whitesides served Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Emory University School of Medicine, member of the Board of Directors of the ABOS and also received the Kappa Delta Award for Outstanding Basic Science Research from the AAOS.
Papers are judged by a committee and awards are given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. Winners receive a plaque, a monetary prize, and are invited to attend the annual meeting to give a podium presentation.
Residents will receive an email in the months leading up to the annual meeting announcing the dates for abstract submission.
